As someone who likes to build models, this little personal piece that rolled through Wired News really got my attention. It’s great for the sheer amount of time and dedication it took (3000 hours) as well as the simplicity of the process (all you need is toothpicks, Elmer’s glue and your hands).
Rohnert Park, California resident Scott Weaver decided to build a model of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge from toothpicks when he was 17… that led to a 30-year obsession which today has become a 9-foot tall, 20-pound tribute to that great American city which also does double duty as a Rube Goldberg contraption without many peers. No more to be said other than… WOW!
