Real Life Twitter.

Links to Info IconAs I continue to try to find redeeming value in Twitter… this particular video sort of sums things up in terms of how it’s still feeling for me today… It was also reported today that 60% of those giving Twitter a try are dropping out within a months time… which is completely understandable…

Anyhow, with no further adieu… real life Twitter… can you say jumpin’ the shark?

Gotta disagree with you Nic. I think Twitter will not be going away anytime soon. It does have a lot of value if you forget all of the stupid celebrities and scammers. You can find that anywhere. What I use it for is a news feed of sorts. I follow people that are in fields that I am interested in and I gain a lot of information from what they post. It is much more immediate. It really is a good social tool. It is what you make of it. It can be a lot of fun and it can be rewarding at the same time.

    Thanks for the post Greg…

First, I will say that my first sentence was that ‘I continue to try and find redeeming value…’ So I’m not throwing in the towel yet…

Second, I’ve already started to see some value in regard to your thoughts in that I’ve begun to follow some designers and designer-related folks and I’m enjoying their thoughts and links very much…

Just giving things a chance to evolve organically.

Although I will say that with 7 followers… I really don’t see the benefit in tweeting myself… any attempts to actively attract more followers seem narcissistic at best… perhaps you’d have more advice on this front?

    Again, thanks for the post.

My stats are 380 people that I am following and 210 that are following me. And I hardly tweet compared to most of the people that I follow. I’ll post pictures and maybe a link to something I find interesting, but I will go days without posting anything. And that is fine. I get more benefit from people that I follow than from the people that follow me. The more you tweet the more you will get noticed but I am not in it for that. I will have some interaction with people that I follow, but that does not happen everyday and that is okay. It can be as big or as small as you want, it just depends on what you want from it. I just look at the knowledge gained and if interaction happens that is great also. I don’t have a website or product to promote. Check out some of the people that the people that you follow follow, there could be some great discoveries there. not sure if any of this has made any sense. It is early in the morning. Just enjoy. Have a good day Nic.
